Route 1 Velo has maintained its presence in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for nearly two decades, and is a USA Cycling member club in the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association (MABRA). Route 1 Velo promotes the Greenbelt Park Training Race Series, a USA Cycling permitted event that takes place each Wednesday night for 16 weeks during the height of the road racing season. Now in its 30th year, it is one of the longest running training series in the nation and the largest attended event in the Mid-Atlantic region. Greenbelt Park Training Race Series Beginning in summer of 2009: Over 100 riders show up weekly to compete for points and prizes in either the A, B or C races held each Wednesday night.
